On Friday night I attended the World Premiere of Black Irish here at the Hamptons International Film Festival. The venue where it was held was not actually a movie theater. It's called Guild Hall, and it's a museum auditorium with a screen. There is nothing like a World Premiere, since in most cases the cast and crew are sitting in the theater with you, often also seeing it for the very first time. It's a bit surreal, but there's nothing like it, and that is part of what makes film festivals so exciting. In addition to writer/director Brad Gann, Melissa Leo was there (she plays the mother of the McKay family). Kelly Crean and Todd Harris, the two main producers, were also present. Plus the editor and about a half dozen other producers.

There are close to 20 producers, assistant producers, and executive producers, and many were there. They took up about 2 rows. After the film, Brad, Melissa, Kelly, and Todd went up to do the Q&A. I was able to film it, and you can watch it here now. Keep in mind that it is not the best quality, of course, and it is difficult to hear the questions. But you can basically figure out what was asked by the answers given.

For 20 years I was a professional in the entertainment industry, from commercial broadcast radio in America's fourth largest market to band management to record production. But my passion is independent film, and I spend much of the year traveling to film festivals to see indies and meet the actors, directors, and others responsible for creating them. I'm a writer, photographer, and videographer, currently serving as Senior Vice President for Media & Technology and Public Relations at PROnetworks as well as Editor at Larry411.com
