Pics of Hayden Christensen, cast & crew Q&A at “Vanishing on 7th Street” World Premiere On Sunday, September 12, 2010 I attended the gala World Premiere of Vanishing on 7th Street at the Toronto International Film Festival. Featured in the Midnight Madness section, the sold-out screening was held at the 1300-seat Ryerson Theatre.

Directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist) from a script by Anthony Jaswinski, Vanishing on 7th Street stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo, and Jacob Latimore. The film also features a creeping black slimy shadow that threatens to upstage and swallow the human actors (and often does). In a chilling theme which would be repeated again and again over the years, the residents of a small town suddenly disappear in the classic Twilight Zone episode Where Is Everybody. Those stories inform some of my film sensibilities to this day, and Vanishing on 7th Street takes that idea and adds elements of horror and post-apocalyptic visions as explored in recent films like I Am Legend and The Road. In this film, a cast of four confronts the darkness -- an "unseen" shadow creature that has no apparent goal or reason for being. Its source is unknown. The goal is simply to survive. Rod Serling would be proud.

Director Brad Anderson was joined onstage by stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, and Jacob Latimore before and after the screening, along with Midnight Madness programmer Colin Geddes.

Here are some pictures I shot as they introduced the film and during the Q&A:
