Is it just me or did this interview on Ryan Seacrest's show "accidentally" reveal that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be split into two movies as has been rumored?

As my readers know I am all about facts, not gossip. But I've watched this video over and over and have no reason to believe it's a joke or a hoax or someone repeating a rumor. Sure looks like the real thing to me.

If it isn't the case I'll be happy to post a statement from Summit (either way) As a result of this video, I have received a statement from Summit which is posted below. But they have not requested that I remove it or change any of the wording in my post. So as a reporter I cannot find any reason not to post the interview. At the very least it's a heartwarming sitdown with the lovely Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy.

Watch this and see. The portion "of interest" starts around the 2:45 mark. Enjoy.

Here is the official statement from Summit I received today:

"Summit Entertainment looks forward to bringing Breaking Dawn to the big screen but at this point any additional information is premature."

The plot thickens...

This interview with Michael Welch, who plays Mike Newton in all three Twilight Saga films, was conducted by MTV following New Moon's record-breaking opening weekend.

This one speaks for itself.

I hope CH doesn't direct it. I'm looking forward to David slade and eclipse. But Chris weitz did an incredible job with NM.

Why would scummit tell ryan anything at all...this is just ryan trying to get more publicity for himself. TINA! I wouldn't sign for Chatty Cathy to direct anything! I wouldn't let her "direct" me down the street much less do Breaking Dawn...oh you must be Nikki Reed so that explains it!

If Catherine Hardwicke has anything to do with Breaking Dawn, you can forget about it being a good movie. She ruined Twilight and she'll ruin Breaking Dawn.

Why would anyone let Catherine Hardwicke direct breaking dawn? She did nowhere near as good a job on twilight as chris did on New Moon and it's obvious from interviews that the cast much prefered working with him to her. Also Catherine has blabbed in interviews private info that Kristen told her so I can't imagine they'd (Rob &Kristen;) would really be happy to work with her after she got their private lives splashed all over the front pages.

Why would anyone want Catherine Hardwicke to direct Breaking Dawn. I mean, really? She was fine for Twilight, but that's where it ends. Sorry.

If Catherine Hardwicke directs Breaking Dawn, there is no way I will go to see it. She broke my heart with the abhorrent job she did on Twilight. I could name about 100 of my friends who won't see it either... and they could each name 100 of THEIR friends and so on... you get the idea.

Chris Weitz redeemed it. He should do Breaking Dawn. Or someone who has the exact same philosophy on book adaptations as him. Would also be kinda nice to get a new screenplay writer in there.

Well, I seriously hope it's true but with the way Summit are being about it, it doesn't seem like they would tell a radio presenter about it if they haven't actually announced it yet, unless they're just trying to get more rumours. As for the Catherine Hardwicke thing, she really shouldn't, Chris Weitz should (having not seen Eclispe yet, maybe I'll like DS better).

A bit worried about Eclipse. Hope David Slade isn't so worried about proving how edgy he is as a director, that he forgets the basis of this franchise is the personal relationships and characters, not the vampire war and bloody sequences. The bits of comments we got from the cast so far haven't been too complimentary. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I agree with these comments. Catherine Hardwicke shouldn't direct traffic let alone another or our beloved Twilight Saga movies. Twilight was so choppy and no flow and left us hanging. Chris Weitz knocked it out of the box with New Moon and I really hope that David Slade proves to be just as great at Chris, and whoever does Breaking Dawn has to be able to pull out a breath taking epic film and Chatty Cathy just isn't capable!

New Moon sucked and every film movie reviewer agreed!!!! They liked Twilight but hated New Moon. Rob Pattinson looked fifty and was stiff as a board in his acting!

    Bring back Catherine Hardiwicke!!!!

Well, I'd love Catherine to direct Breaking Dawn!I think she did a great job! She understands how to reveale the lovestory and I think that's the main point what the Twilight-Saga is about, isn't it? I also think the characters looked better in the first movie and just the whole feeling through the movie: amazing! I fell in love with the movie, but "New Moon" disappointed me and I think "Eclipse" will do the same :(
